West Bengal: Mamata Banerjee bats for creation of more districts in state

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday stated there is a want to create more districts in the state for expediting development work, but it has been constrained by using lack of manpower and infrastructure. Speaking at a assembly with West Bengal Civil Service officers at the renovated Town Hall here, she said the area of the present 23 districts in the state is vast, so there is a need to divide them and amplify the number.

The nation wants more manpower and infrastructure for this purpose. “We need to divide the districts as these are very large. The kingdom will have greater districts. This will assist expedite improvement work,” she said. The chief minister also accused the Centre of now not releasing dollars to the state. “I came to understand that the Centre has not launched money for 100-day work on the grounds that December closing year. Tell me, how humans will work if they are now not paid. The central authorities collects revenue from states and shares a meagre phase of it,” Banerjee stated at the meeting.
