COVID-19: West Bengal government appoints new nodal officers for worst-hit districts.

The West Bengal government on Monday (July 13) appointed four senior IAS officers as Nodal officers in four districts which have reported maximum cases of coronavirus COVID-19.

The four districts that have reported the highest number of cases are — Kolkata, Howrah, South 24 Parganas and North 24 Parganas districts of the state.

State’s Home Secretary Alapan Bandyopadhyay has been appointed as the nodal officer for Kolkata, which has accounted for the highest number of infections and over 500 deaths. Manoj Pant, another senior IAS officer, has been assigned the responsibility of North 24 Parganas while Naveen Prakash and Rajesh Pandey have been appointed a nodal officers for South 24 Parganas and Howrah respectively.

The State recorded 1,435 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday, taking the total number of cases to 31,448. The number of active infections has increased to 11,279.
