12-hours Barak valley bandh called by Barak Democratic Front (BDF).
According to reports, the bandh was called to protest against the deprivation of the unemployed youth of the valley in the recruitment process for class III and IV posts. The bandh was also called to protest the harassment of Bengalis in Meghalaya.
So far the closure has been peaceful, and no picketers have been present on the streets of Silchar. Various organizations have also extended their support.
