Actress Alia Bhatt talks about her ‘I am not a parcel’ comment: ‘The man is also going to have the child’

Alia Bhatt set the record straight about her unusual reaction to false reports about her pregnancy in June. She responded to an article that said her shoot was delayed due to her pregnancy. Justifying her anger, Alia now says that the incident awakened the feminist in her.

Alia Bhatt revealed her first pregnancy with Ranbir Kapoor in late June, months after they tied the knot. “Our baby… coming soon,” she wrote on social media A few days after the announcement, a file claimed that Ranveer could fly to the UK where Alia was filming for her Hollywood debut Heart of Stone and take her as she is pregnant.

Responding to the claim, Alia slammed, “Meanwhile we still live in a patriarchal world in some people’s heads. FYI, nothing is delayed. No one has to pick everyone up. I’m a woman, not a parcel. I don’t want to rest now but you have a doctor’s certificate.” Want to know if there is. It’s 2022. Can we please get out of this archaic way of thinking? Now if you’ll excuse me. My shot is ready.”

Open about her anger behind the words, Alia told Goodtimes that she finds such things extraordinarily old-fashioned and backward. “If under the guise of writing a great article you’re basically going to declare things like, ‘Oh a woman’s lifestyle is going to be totally messed up now,’ that’s a bit unfair. You’re not talking about the guy, the guy is going to have extra kids. So why is it just for the woman? ?”

“The only reason I reacted was because it was going for a hardcore commentary, so it awakened the feminist in me with knives and all guns blazing. It’s not about me personally, you can say whatever you want about me, I don’t give a sh*t but if you comment about a woman in general, who is only working because of (her) establishment pregnancy that bothers me. The fact that I don’t answer makes it clear that I have,” she added.
