Transportation of bovine animals banned

Over 2,100 cattle across 10 districts of Madhya Pradesh have been found infected with the skin disease, prompting the administration to ban the movement of cattle in the affected parts of the state.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, in a meeting held on Friday to review the situation arising out of the spread of the disease, directed officials that cattle brought to MP from other states should be banned and extra precautions should be taken. Areas surrounding disease-affected districts.

Officials said the main symptoms of this contagious viral disease affecting cattle are fever, nasal and lacrimal discharge, eye ulcers, swollen lymph nodes and reduced milk production.

Outbreaks of the disease have been reported in Haryana, Maharashtra, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Delhi.
