The largest open-air theatre festival began after a gap of two years, in Bargarh at the Odisha

The ‘Dhanu Yatra’ competition, the biggest alfresco theatre competition began when a spot of 2 years, in Bargarh at the Odisha. The colourful Dhanu Yatra is related to the culture of Odisha. The competition is being command from Dec 27 to Jan 6 2023. Many artists from a 130 cultural troupes from across the country are scheduled to perform throughout the competition. Around 3,000 artistes of a 130 cultural troupes from across the country is taking part within the competition. However, Kansa is that the central attraction of the Dhanu Yatra.

The Dhanu Yatra was started when the gathering season of the year 1947-48, simply when independence of Asian country as a mirrored image of joyous atmosphere within the society for the tip of British governance. Since then it’s performed once a year at the tip of the gathering of paddy, the main crop of the neck of the woods.


It starts from the 5th day of ‘Pousasukla’ to finish on ‘Pousapurnima’. Throughout the 11days the complete space of Bargarh city and therefore the adjacent sub–urban elements of Bargarh Block like Cement Nagar, Padhanpali, Jamurda, Tora etc, render into the dominion of KANSA – ‘The Mathura Nagari’. The watercourse Jeera flowing by the aspect of Bargarh transcribed as watercourse Jamuna and ‘Ambapali’ at the opposite aspect of the watercourse becomes ‘Gopapura’ as per the mythological word.
