Shubman Gill Credits Yuvraj Singh his Success in Australia

Subhman Gill was selected for Australia tour in as the replacement of injured Rohit Sharma and included in the playing XI in the second Test at the MCG, Melbourne. The right-handed batsman deemed to be the next-big-thing in Indian cricket as he showed no signs of nervousness and was calm; he played a wide variety of shots in the 6 innings he played in Australia. He had scored 259 runs at 51.80 batting average with two half-centuries; being India’s fourth-highest run-getter overall playing only three matches.

Gill credited former Indian player, Yuvraj Singh, for preparing him well for the short-ball challenge while he was at camp. He said, “The camp with Yuvi paaji before the IPL was very useful. During that camp, he prepared me to face the chin music. He used to throw hundreds of short-pitch balls to me from different angles, and I think it helped me a lot.”

Gill has returned India after nearly 6 months he was in the UAE for the IPL 2020 since September before going to Australia in the second half of November. Now that he is back home, Gill just wants to spend time with his family and eat his favorite dishes.

He said England is a tough side and his next target is to do well against them in coming tests. “The next goal is to score consistently at this level. England series will be crucial for me because now I will not be an unknown entity. Facing the likes of James Anderson, Stuart Broad and Jofra Archer will be challenging but I am up for it. I was craving for homemade food. For the next couple of days, I just want to be home and eat my favourite dishes,” Gill said.
