Deep fake technology has taken the world by storm. Many celebrities have been victims of AI and have created fake pictures of them and shared them on the internet. Indian batsman Shubman Gill became the latest victim of technology as a picture of Gill and Sachin Tendulkar’s daughter Sara went viral on social media.
Many fans celebrated that the two made their relationship official with the post, after some investigation, it was found that the photo was morphed. The film originally featured Arjun Tendulkar’s face instead of Gill. However, through the power of AI, Gill’s face was transformed into Arjun’s face.
Such incidents have prompted the Union IT ministry to launch an inquiry and alert social media platforms to remove images that implicate AI and deep fakes. Recently, morphed pictures of many Bollywood actresses are also being shared on social media.
