President Murmu Gives Chocolates to Surinamese Kids

Indian President Droupadi Murmu visited Suriname on Sunday to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the arrival of Indians in Suriname. This is her first State visit since taking office last year, and she held delegation level talks with her counterpart Chandrikapersad Santokhi.

After the talks, the President’s official handle tweeted, “Both the Presidents discussed ways to deepen India-Suriname relations and held wide ranging discussions on multiple areas including defence, agriculture, IT and capacity building. India and Suriname exchanged four MoUs in various fields including health and agriculture.”

President Murmu met with a group of children in Suriname to greet her, offering them Made in India chocolates. They thanked her for the gift, which was appreciated by the children. Despite her busy schedule, President Murmu also had time to interact with the common people in Suriname.

President Murmu is scheduled to interact with Indian diaspora in Suriname on the last day of her visit before leaving for Serbia. In Serbia, she will meet President Vui, Prime Minister Ana Brnabi and Speaker of the National Assembly, Vladimir Orlic, as well as a 20-member business delegation from industry chambers.
