MP: CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan inaugurates country’s first solar city Sanchi

Madhya Pradesh’ Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan inaugurated India’s first solar city Sanchi on 7th of September. He stated that the Sanchi would soon become a net zero city. He also urged people to plant more trees and also to shift towards the use of renewable energy. Solar pumps have also started coming in the market to help farmers in the irrigation system.

Roof-top solar panels have been set up in all institutions like schools, post offices, government offices, street lights, and railway stations in Sanchi. The use of solar study lamps have also increased in the city.

According to the reports the initiative will help to reduce about 13 thousand 747 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually in Sanchi Solar City, which is equivalent to more than 2 lakh young trees. In addition to this , there will be a saving of more than 7 crore rupees annually in the energy-related expenditure of the govt. and the citizens.
