The 28th Kolkata International Film Festival will be celebrated between Dec 15 and 22. As per the reports of the Information and Cultural Affairs Department, Government of West Bengal, Thursday`s inauguration event will be graced by CM Mamata Banerjee and actors Shahrukh Khan, and the couple Jaya Bachchan and Amitabh Bachchan and filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt. Further, actor Rani Mukherjee and former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly will be also among the dignitaries who will be seen at the mega event.
In this event, there will be a establishment of a special part called `Game On` for sports-based movies for the screening of the people.
The Kolkata International Film Festival began in the year 1995. The 27th Kolkata International Film Festival, which was scheduled to be held between January 7-14 this year was cancelled in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
