Karnataka: Man sets wife’s dad, brother & kin ablaze; 2 people died in Yadgir

An auto driver who was embroiled in a bitter divorce battle with his wife allegedly cremated his father, brother and two relatives in Yadgir district on Wednesday, reviews Basavaraj Kattimani.

Although two relatives died, the condition of the woman’s father and brother is critical. Accused Sharanappa was arrested soon after the crime.
Sharanappa and Huligema have been married for the past sixteen years and have two children. Their marriage was once going through rough patches and about 14 months ago, Huligema, who works as a mechanic at the KSRTC depot in Lingasugur, moved to Lingasugur to live on her own.

Sharanappa invited the victims to his house in Narayanpur.

On the pretext of settling their marital differences, Sharanappa invited his father-in-law Siddarmappa Mural, 65, brother-in-law Muttappa Mural, 40, and wife and children Nagappa Hagaragunda (35) and Sharanappa Saruru (65) to his house. Neighbors broke the door and informed the police.
“All four were seriously burnt and rushed to Raichur Institute of Medical Sciences. Nagappa and Sharanappa succumbed to the burn accident at the sanatorium while the wife’s father and brother suffered 80 per cent burns,” Yadgir District Superintendent of Police C B Vedamoorthy said.

A case has been filed at Narayanpur police station in this incident.
