Jindal Stainless lodges FIR against local manufacturer for trademark infringement

Jindal Stainless has lodged an FIR against the owner of Malda (West Bengal)-based Maheshwari Steel for infringement of the JSL and Jindal trademarks. The FIR has been registered under IPC Sections 420, 482, 486, 120B, Sections 63 and 64 of the Copy Right Act, and Sections 103 and 104 of the Trademark Act.

The local police, acting on a complaint made by Jindal Stainless, raided the premises from where the accused was operating and found large quantities of goods with logo of fake JSL/Jindal trademarks.
The investigating team has also seized around five dyes of Jindal logo attached to the machines. In this particular case, the accused has been arrested and subjected to a 7-day custody by the order of the Hon’ble Court. The entire godown and the impugned goods of the accused have also been sealed.

This development comes at a time when Jindal Stainless has been taking legal action against manufacturers/dealers found to be selling counterfeit products by using the JSL/Jindal brand name and logo. Taking note of this development, a senior official of Jindal Stainless said, “Maheshwari Steel was illegally manufacturing and selling substandard stainless steel products used for construction witha fakeJSL / Jindal trademark. We request our customers to be cautious of such fraudulent practices.”
