In Siliguri a man arrested with cannabis worth lakhs

In a joint operation, recently the Special Task Force (STF) and Matigara police apprehended a youth with a substantial quantity of cannabis worth lakhs. Actually the accused has been identified as Sujan Debnath (27), a resident of Dinhata. As per reports, the STF and Matigara police conducted an operation at the Phansidewa underpass area and intercepted a pickup van. In fact during the search, the officials recovered 28 packets of cannabis that weighed 140 kilograms worth lakhs. Subsequently, the accused driver of the pickup van was actually arrested on charges of drug smuggling and the vehicle was seized.

Police sources revealed that the contraband was being transported from Cooch Behar to Bihar via Siliguri concealed in a hidden compartment constructed within the pickup van. The accused driver will be produced before the Siliguri court on Monday. This is actually very bad incident as these types of activities are happening and effecting people life. People should take this thing very seriously and inform about these things if they find anything suspicious.
