Health Department prepares Mizoram vaccination campaign for measles and rubella

The Health Department is preparing for a vaccination campaign to eradicate measles and rubella diseases in Mizoram. The government plans to eradicate these diseases by December 2023, as vaccines can prevent these diseases. India plans to launch Intensified Mission Indradhanush 5.0 in August, September, and October to eradicate two diseases and ensure vaccination for pregnant women and children. The Mizoram Health Department is also preparing to implement the campaign.

The Universal Immunisation Programme provides vaccines to pregnant women and children against 11 diseases, including smallpox, tetanus, and infant and maternal mortality. The program has led to global eradication and reduced infant and maternal mortality rates.

John Snow India organized training for media personnel on Universal Immunization Programme and MOMENTUM Routine Immunization Transformation. Dr. A.S. Gopal Krishna Soni, Project Director, USAID supported MOMENTUM Routine Immunization Transformation & Equity Project said, “IMI 5.0 is a vaccine that can prevent various diseases. IMI 5.0 is a vaccine that can prevent vaccines. If health workers, media workers, and the public work together, our country will be healthier and free from many diseases”.
