Gehlot slams BJP for ‘OBC insult’ charge

Ashok Gehlot, the chief minister of Rajasthan, criticised the BJP on Sunday for its claim that Rahul Gandhi insulted OBCs with his “Modi surname” statement in 2019. He said that his party has done a lot for the underprivileged, including electing an OBC leader like him as chief minister three times.
Bhupesh Baghel, his counterpart from Chhattisgarh, was also an OBC, he added.
Gandhi was given a two-year prison term on Thursday by a Surat court in a criminal defamation case from 2019 including his statement “why all thieves have Modi surname.” Thereafter, he was declared ineligible to serve in the Lok Sabha as of the date of his conviction.
