Fake Aadhaar card centre busted in Siliguri, two including mastermind arrested

Siliguri, May 31: The Detective Department (DD) of Siliguri police has busted a fake Aadhaar card centre and arrested two persons involved in the racket.

The accused have been identified as Sushil Roy of Tikiapara and Indra Narayan Choudhury of Phuleswari, who are the alleged masterminds of the scam.

According to reports, the DD team had received information that Aadhaar cards were being issued illegally to people without valid documents.

During the investigation, Sushil Roy was found looking for such persons and introducing them to Indra Narayan Choudhury, allegedly in exchange for ₹1,000 per person.

Indra Narayan Choudhury is accused of charging huge sums of money from people for making fake Aadhaar cards. Detailed investigation led to the seizure of several Aadhaar cards and photographs from his laptop and mobile device.

The operation culminated with the arrest of Sushil Roy on Friday night, followed by the arrest of Choudhury based on information obtained during interrogation. Both were produced in Siliguri court on Saturday and a seven-day remand has been sought.

DD suspects that more people may be involved in the fake Aadhaar card racket. Investigation is currently underway to get to the bottom of the scam.
