A chill morning in Delhi on Thursday saw the minimum temperature drop to 6.4 degrees Celsius in the first hour, the lowest of the season so far. The minimum temperature recorded Thursday for this time of the year at the Safdarjung meteorological station was two degrees below normal, providing a marker for the city.
South Delhi’s Aya Nagar recorded an even chilly morning with a minimum temperature of 5.4 degrees, four degrees below normal.
With strong winds, temperatures in Delhi have gradually dropped this week. The maximum temperature, which was around 27.1 degrees Celsius on Monday, dropped to 24.6 degrees Celsius by Wednesday. So far this week, days have been warmer than normal and maximum temperatures have been above normal. India Meteorological Department scientists said this is due to low western disturbance in Delhi this month.
The minimum temperature is likely to be around 6 degrees Celsius till December 20, the IMD forecast indicated. The maximum temperature may be around 24 or 25 degrees Celsius till December 21. Foggy conditions are coming in Delhi around December 17 to 21.
