One of the country’s hi-tech super thieves, who inspired a popular Bollywood movie, has been arrested by the Delhi Police.
Devinder Singh, also known as ‘Bunty Chor’ or ‘Super Thief’, has been arrested from Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh. Police are expected to brief reporters on his arrest later in the day.
Officials say the ‘Bunty thief’ recently committed a robbery in an upscale area of the national capital. Goods worth lakhs were stolen from two houses in south Delhi’s Greater Kailash area during the robbery, police said.
Known as the ‘Super Thief’, Devinder Singh alone committed 500 thefts till 2012.
A Bollywood movie, ‘O Lucky! Lucky Way!’, based on Bunty’s life, was produced in 2008.
A few years later, he appeared in the popular reality show “Bigg Boss Season 4” aired on TV channel Colors.
A school dropout, Bunty never bought a property and instead lived in a five-star hotel.
