Boycott Laal Singh Chaddha trends: Netizens upset with Aamir Khan-Kareena Kapoor due to their controversial comments

Aamir Khan-Kareena Kapoor starrer ‘Lal Singh Chaddha’ is trending on Twitter once again and not for the right reasons. Netizens are using the hashtag #BoycottLaalSinghCaddha on Twitter, asking people not to watch the movie.

Apparently, some Twitter users went through the archives and dug up Aamir’s controversial “growing intolerance in India” claim and circulated it on the micro-blogging site. Some of Kareena’s controversial statements in the past have also gone viral online.

Well, this is not the first time that netizens have expressed outrage over the upcoming film. Earlier, when the makers of the movie launched the trailer in May, the same hashtag was on the trending list.

Talking about the controversial statement in question, in 2015, Aamir Khan said in an interview, “Our country is very tolerant, but there are people who show abnormality”. His wife Kiran Rao has made headlines by saying that she wants to leave the country for the safety of their children.

Netizens called him ‘anti-Hindu’ and ‘anti-national’ while promoting his quotes and videos from historical interviews with the hashtag #LaalSinghCaddha.

Recently, the makers announced that the movie will be used on OTT after 6 months of its release. The movie is launched to hit theaters on August 11.

Produced using Aamir Khan Productions, Kiran Rao and Viacom 18 Studios, ‘Lal Singh Chadha’ also stars Mona Singh and Chaitanya Akkineni. It is an authentic remake of the Academy Award-winning 1994 film Forrest Gump, starring Tom Hanks.
