Bank employee detained in Siliguri for opening account without customer’s knowledge

Siliguri, August 14: A bank employee has been arrested in Siliguri for creating bank accounts in the names of customers without their knowledge and conducting transactions through these accounts. The arrested accused has been identified as Abhishek Roy.
According to reports, in July, while preparing her income tax file, a woman discovered that a bank account had been opened in her name at a bank located on Bidhan Road. Complicating the matter, the account was used for transactions worth nearly Rs three crore, of which she was unaware. Subsequently, he lodged a written complaint at Panitanki outpost.
During investigation, the police identified the involvement of a bank employee in the case and arrested him. After interrogation, the police revealed that the accused was responsible for opening these accounts without the knowledge of the customers. The accused was presented in Siliguri court on Wednesday.
