Ayodhya Temple: No Repair Required For 1,000 Years, Can Withstand 6.5 Magnitude Quake

After the approval of Supreme Court, the construction of Ayodhya Temple at Ram Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya, has completed the first phase of project and it is left with two more phases.

The designed of the temple was drawn by a team under popular architect Chandrakant Bhai Sompura, the Nagara-style temple is mainly made up of pink sandstone and carved marble bought from Mirzapur and Bansi-Paharpur in Rajasthan. It has been also said that, 17,000 granite stones, which weighs 2 tonnes per stones, have been used for the construction of temple.

As per the reports from the trustees, the temple will not need repairment for at least 1,000 years and its foundation which is 12m deep can even survive a 6.5 magnitude earthquake. 47 layers of the stone have been made in foundation, according to a news report.

“So far, 21 lakh cubic feet of granite, sandstone and marble has been used in the construction of the temple,” Champat Rai, general secretary of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, told the Times of India.

Interestingly, all those bricks which were donated during and after the 1992 ‘Shila Daan’ have also been used in the temple’s construction.
