Actor Lee Sun-kyun’s tragic death not only sent shockwaves through the Korean film industry but also reverberated around the world considering his acclaimed, award-winning roles. The 48-year-old actor was found dead in a car amid a drug investigation.

Police are now investigating whether the Oscar-winning actor committed suicide after his manager claimed he left a suicide note, Yonhap news agency reported, citing police officials.

According to recent reports, Lee disappeared from home after leaving a note hours before she was found dead. Jeon Hye Jin, his wife, even filed a missing report with the police. Police later found a body inside a car and identified him as Lee. The car was near charcoal briquettes in a park in Seoul, Yonhap reported.

In a statement to SPOTV, Lee Sun Kyun’s agency, HODU&U Entertainment, expressed deep sorrow and grief over the actor’s recent death. They confirmed his death and urged fans to refrain from spreading misinformation. The announcement also noted that the funeral will be a private affair with the bereaved family and colleagues of the deceased in attendance.

“There are no words to express our sorrow and grief. Please refrain from spreading false information through conjecture or malicious statements so that the final path of the deceased is not unfair. The last rites will be done in silence with the bereaved family and colleagues of the deceased.” said HODU&U Entertainment.
