14-year-old boy drowns tragically during holy bath at Kundar Dighi in Rajganj

Rajganj, April 12: A teenager died during holy bath at Kundar Dighi in Rajganj block. The deceased has been identified as Bapi Roy (14). The deceased teenager was a ninth grade student of Ambari-Falakata Chinta Mohan High School.

According to local and family sources, Ganga bath and fair have been organized at Kundar Dighi in Shikarpur Gram Panchayat for many years. Ganga bath is organized on Saturday and fair on Sunday. On this occasion, many people take holy bath in the pond located next to the Puja complex since Saturday morning.

It is said that Bapi Roy of the area had gone to take bath in the pond with a friend of his. At the same time, he drowned in the deep water of the pond. But his friend got scared and went home without telling anyone around. On receiving the information, the local people immediately rushed to rescue. He was immediately rushed to a private hospital in Fulbari and later to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH), where doctors on duty declared him dead. Family members and many locals have alleged that the police and the Puja committee were not vigilant at the Puja premises. The family of the deceased has accused the Puja committee of complicity in the incident. Belakoba Outpost police have started investigating the incident.
