Youth who stole camera lenses from Cooch Behar caught trying to sell them in Siliguri

Siliguri, Jan 24: A youth trying to sell stolen camera lenses in Siliguri was caught by a shopkeeper and handed over to the police. The accused has been identified as Papi Choudhary, who hails from Cooch Behar.
According to reports, a photographer’s camera lenses were stolen in Cooch Behar a few days ago. On Friday, Papi Choudhary went to a camera shop in Siliguri’s Bidhan Market to sell two camera lenses. The shopkeeper got suspicious after seeing the lenses and questioned the youth. His suspicion grew further after hearing the accused’s answers. The shopkeeper then contacted his friends to gather information about the stolen lenses. They confirmed that the lenses matched the ones stolen in Cooch Behar.
Using his presence of mind, the shopkeeper talked to the youth while informing the police. Officers from the Panitanki outpost soon reached the spot and recovered two of the stolen lenses and took Papi Choudhary into custody.
Hearing the news, the photographer whose lenses were stolen also rushed to Siliguri. According to police sources, a total of four camera lenses were stolen, of which two have now been recovered. Efforts are on to trace the remaining lenses and investigations are on.
