Fulbari, July 13: A tragic incident came to light at Fulbari Mahananda Barrage, where a youth lost his life after being swept away in the water. The victim has been identified as Suraj Roy (21), a resident of Rangpani area of Siliguri, who was going to the barrage with his brother on Friday evening.
According to reports, both the brothers had reached Phulbari Mahananda Barrage on their motorcycle. During this time, while trying to wash his dirty feet in the fast flowing water, Suraj’s foot slipped and he fell into the water.
On receiving the news, local officials from Phansidewa police station and his family members reached the spot. The disaster management team conducted a search operation till late night but the youth could not be traced. The search for Suraj has started again on Saturday in coordination with Phansidewa police and rescue team.
