Siliguri, 07 January: Pradhan Nagar police station has arrested a youth for smuggling liquor from Bengal to Bihar. The arrested person has been identified as Vikram Kumar, a resident of Muzaffarpur, Bihar.
According to police sources, liquor smuggling has increased since the ban on liquor in Bihar, liquor is being smuggled through various ways through Bengal and Nepal. One such case came to light on Monday night, when a youth arrived at the Bihar bus stand at Siliguri Junction with a trolley.
On receiving information, Pradhan Nagar police took immediate action and caught the youth. On searching the trolley, a huge amount of liquor was recovered from it, which is worth about ₹ 60,000.
After the liquor was recovered, the youth was arrested on charges of liquor smuggling. Kumar was produced in Siliguri court on Tuesday. Police have started investigating the case.
