Siliguri: Siliguri police arrested a youth in plainclothes with weapons during patrolling on Thursday night.
The accused has been identified as Mohammed Bappa, 23, a resident of Mazdoor Colony in Tikiapara. According to police sources, he was found roaming suspiciously in a deserted lane of P&T Colony when the patrol team stopped him. Upon searching, the officers recovered a country-made gun and two live cartridges from him.
Police suspect that the youth was planning to carry out a major crime. He was produced in Siliguri court on Friday, while further investigation into the case is underway.
