Siliguri, A youth was arrested with a huge quantity of banned cough syrup near Mandal Petrol Pump adjacent to Eastern Bypass in Siliguri. The accused has been identified as Biltu Sarkar alias Shambhu, a resident of Bowbazar, Shanti Nagar.
According to police sources, Bhakti Nagar police had received information that a drug deal was going to take place in the area on Friday night. Acting on the information, they laid a trap and detained the suspect. A huge quantity of banned cough syrup was recovered from his bag when he was searched. Police also seized a motorcycle from the spot.
The arrested youth was produced in Jalpaiguri court on Saturday. Police have started investigation into the entire incident.
