World Television Day: History and significance

November 21 celebrates as world television day. On this specific day, television represents itself rather than television as a technology to the world. In the modern world, television is a representation of communication and globalization. According to the United Nations’ official website, the number of households with televisions is increasing worldwide, even as screen sizes have changed and people create, share, watch and consume content on a variety of other platforms.

The combination of traditional and contemporary broadcasting formats provides an opportunity to spread awareness about global issues that people face on a regular basis.

History
In 1927 Philo Taylor Farnsworth invented the first electric television. He was an American inventor. The first mechanical television station, W3XK, created by Charles Francis Jenkins, broadcast its first program a year later.
