Eminent Oncologist of North Bengal, Dr Saptarshi Ghosh of Siliguri Nursing Home has organized a unique Cancer Survivors Get together in Siliguri 4 February, on the occasion of World Cancer Day.
In the programme, the cancer survivors treated by Dr Ghosh took part and shared their pain and pathos, their struggle to come back in normal life after fighting with Cancer. Dr Ghosh said, “Although the Cancer Survivors Day is celebrated on the first Sunday of June in USA, I thought of conducting this Survivors Program on the occasion of World Cancer Day. The main aim of the Survivors Program is to make the Cancer Survivors interact within themselves and share their experiences, their physical, emotional stress and thereby find out a common way to keep on living together.”
“We have now started our in-house Immunohistochemistry Lab in Siliguri Nursing Home Pvt. Ltd. thereby getting a confirmed diagnosis of the type of cancer. The last but probably the biggest hurdle of all is the economic hurdle – cancer patients often need lacs of Rupees for the completion of their treatment – but thanks to new Government schemes, we can now offer a standard treatment to most of the patients in cashless facility via Swasthyasathi, WBHS etc”, he added.
