Woman passenger sexually harassed, assaulted inside train by paramilitary jawan near Durgapur

In a horrific incident reported from West Bengal, a paramilitary jawan allegedly molested and assaulted a female passenger inside a train near Durgapur. The woman called the Government Railway Police (GRP) and the accused jawan was arrested on Tuesday.

The accused has been identified as 36-year-old Dhirendra Kumar Mishra, who was employed with Shastra Seema Ball (SSSB) in Barasa. He is currently in judicial custody.
According to a Times of India document, the horrific incident took place between the AC 3 Tier Educator of Kalka Mail while the lesson was near Durgapur station.
The woman has mentioned in her complaint that the accused policeman, who was once allegedly drunk and naked, started groping her and pressing her private parts when she was getting off the train.
He said he raised an alarm and TT and other train staff rushed to his rescue. Panicking, the accused SSB jawan tried to lock himself in the washroom.

“I ran towards the accused and he kicked me while abusing me. As soon as the train reached Asansol station, I called the RPF and they took the accused out and recorded my video statement,” the woman said in her complaint.

According to the victim, other passengers also complained against Mishra as he was only roaming on Undi on instructions. The woman said that the coach she was traveling was full of SSB jawans.

The victim further alleged that after the complaint against the SSB jawan, the officer-in-charge of the SSB unit called him and requested him to withdraw the complaint saying that he was drunk and no longer recognized what he was doing.
