On Monday, the Supreme Court ordered officials to remove a mosque from the Allahabad High Court’s grounds within three months, telling the petitioners who were opposed to the demolition that the building was on property with a terminated lease and that they could not continue to claim that they had a legal right to it.
The Allahabad High Court’s November 2017 ruling giving them three months to remove the mosque from the property was challenged by the petitioners, the Waqf Masjid High Court and the UP Sunni Central Waqf Board.
Their appeal was denied on Monday by the highest court.
