In a tragic incident early Thursday morning, a man actually lost his life while attempting to cross the road at Jalpai More in Siliguri. The deceased has been identified as MD Meeraj, originally a resident of Bihar, but lived in Fatapukur and ran a shop. According to reports, Meeraj had arrived in Siliguri with his family and was waiting for a vehicle to proceed to Fatapukur. During this, he was run over by a truck coming from the opposite direction, while crossing the road. Consequently, Meeraj died on the spot.
Upon receiving the news, police from the Jalpai More Traffic and Khalpara Outpost arrived at the scene promptly. After that they recovered Meeraj’s body and sent it to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) for a post-mortem examination. The incident left Meeraj’s family in shock as they witnessed the horrific accident. Currently, the authorities are investigating the case to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the accident.
