West Bengal Governor La Ganesh has faced the wrath of netizens online after a video of him pushing aside Sunil Chhetri during a presentation ceremony went viral on social media. Sunil Chhetri was reportedly pushed aside by Governor for a photo opportunity at the Durand Cup award ceremony, the video of which went viral on social media.
Sunil Chhetri is the captain of both Bengaluru FC and the Indian national football team, who created history after winning the Durand Cup 2022 Trophy in the final by beating Mumbai City FC 2-1 at the Vivekananda Yuva Bharati Stadium in Kolkata on Sunday.
But, in the video, Chettri’s achievements and the star footballer were taken aside by West Bengal Governor La Ganesh Iyer for a photo.
A video of the incident during the post-match presentation went viral on social media with users calling Iyer’s gesture “high-handed” and “disrespectful”.
