Vodafone Idea, one of India’s leading telecom operators, has announced the deployment of Nokia’s NetGuard Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) to enhance network security for its consumer and enterprise customers. This strategic move aims to combat the increasing cyber threats and security vulnerabilities in the telecom sector. NetGuard EDR, a specialized threat detection suite, will be integrated into Vodafone Idea’s core network, providing real-time, automated monitoring. This will enable rapid detection and mitigation of endpoint-related security incidents, minimizing security gaps, reducing the need for extensive testing, and optimizing operational costs. The solution ensures continuous service availability and performance across the entire Operational Technology (OT) network.
Jagbir Singh, Chief Technology Officer at Vodafone Idea, emphasized the company’s commitment to advancing network evolution. “Vodafone Idea is fully committed to driving the next phase of network evolution, ensuring that our advanced solutions deliver both unmatched connectivity and security. As we embrace this journey with Nokia, we are focused on building networks that are resilient and capable of supporting the ever-growing demands, including heightened security risks, of digital transformation,” Singh stated.
This collaboration further strengthens the existing relationship between Vodafone Idea and Nokia, which already includes multiple core solutions and 4G RAN.
In Siliguri, the implementation of NetGuard EDR is expected to significantly enhance the security and reliability of telecom services. This is particularly crucial for the region’s growing number of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) that rely heavily on secure and stable network connectivity for their operations. The enhanced security measures will not only protect these businesses from cyber threats but also foster a more robust digital ecosystem in Siliguri.
