Vi has strategically partnered with Shemaroo to live-stream the MahaKumbh Mela, one of the world’s largest spiritual events, from 13th January to 26th February 2025. With over 40 crore pilgrims expected, this partnership will offer Vi users exclusive access to live coverage of the Shahi Snans, Akhara processions, and Ganga Aarti through the Vi Movies & TV App and Vi App. In addition, users will be able to enjoy cultural performances, interviews with spiritual leaders, and stories of the event’s vast infrastructure.
This move aligns with Vi’s focus on capitalizing on the growing OTT market, particularly in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, where demand for spiritual and local content has surged by 60%. Vi’s significant investment in its 4G network, with 46,000 new sites and upgrades to 58,000+ sites, ensures high-quality streaming and superior connectivity for users nationwide.
