Keeping in concern of the ban on single-use plastics, renowned artists Pradip Kumar Ghosh and Sanjib Basak have decided to give the message of ‘Save Environment’ through their idols. On Durga puja pandals the idols will be exhibited in Dhubri town.
Sanjeev Basak is a recipient of the Kamala Award and the Rashtra Prerna Award of the Craft Council of India. He uses single plastic utensils like spoons, bowls, etc. to make the idols.
“Durga has the power to destroy all the evils in society. If all the single-use plastic is eradicated from the environment, the earth will get a new life”, Basak stated.
On the other hand, Pradip Kumar Ghosh has been making Durga Idols with various waste materials for over a decade and this year he will be making a 4 feet tall idol with coconut waste.
