Two suspected terrorists have been arrested from Barpeta district of Assam on August 28. They have been identified as Akbar Ali and Abul Kalam Azad. Their links are being connected to the Islamic terrorist group Al Qaeda (AQIS) and the ‘Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT)’.
According to Deputy Commissioner Lachit Kumar Das, ‘This madrasa is indulging in anti-national activities, jihadi activities. Investigation has revealed that this madrasa is built on government land and has no owner. So we decided to demolish it immediately.’
After the arrest, Chief Minister Sarma told, ‘This is the second madrasa, which we demolished. Because they were not running as an institution, but as a terror centre. I don’t want to generalise, but when there is a complaint of fundamentalism, we investigate and take legal action.’
