Jalpaiguri, Feb 19: The two-day Huzur Saheb Mela began in Haldibari on Tuesday.
Held every year on the 4th and 5th of the month of Falgun, the fair is visited by lakhs of people from different communities who offer incense sticks and candles to Huzur Saheb to fulfill their wishes. When their wishes are fulfilled, devotees offer various items to express gratitude.
According to reports, Huzur Saheb was a revered figure in Haldibari who was known for fulfilling the wishes of people. It was believed that his words always came true, which earned him recognition in the region. After his demise, a dargah was built in his honor, where the fair is held every year.
This year, the fair began yesterday, with a large number of people coming from different places. The police administration has implemented stringent security measures and additional train services have been arranged for the convenience of visitors. The administration is working diligently to ensure the smooth conduct of the programme.
