Siliguri, Dec 11: In yet another incident of theft in Siliguri, Pradhan Nagar police arrested two persons for stealing an e-rickshaw. The arrested persons have been identified as Akash Debnath, a resident of Baghajatin Colony and Abhijit Das of NJP area.
According to police sources, Ramdeo Majumdar’s e-rickshaw was stolen from Vidya Chakra Colony in Ward No. 44 on Monday night. Majumdar lodged a written complaint at Bhakti Nagar police station, following which an investigation was initiated. Meanwhile, Pradhan Nagar police caught two suspects trying to sell the stolen e-rickshaw in the Regulated Market area. According to the complaint lodged at Bhakti Nagar police station, upon interrogation, the accused confessed to stealing the rickshaw from Vidya Chakra Colony in Ward No. 44.
The Pradhan Nagar police then informed the Bhakti Nagar police about the matter and handed over the information. Both the accused were produced in Siliguri court on Wednesday. Ramdev Majumdar said that the e-rickshaw was the main source of livelihood for his five-member family. He said that the same rickshaw had been stolen earlier as well, which was returned. He thanked the police for their prompt action.
