TVS launches Orbiter V1 Electric Scooter; prices start at Rs 49,999 with new battery subscription model

TVS Motor Company has expanded its electric vehicle portfolio with the launch of the TVS Orbiter V1 electric scooter powered by a 1.8 kWh battery, introducing a more affordable entry point into its EV lineup. Alongside the launch, the company also rolled out a new Battery-As-A-Service (BaaS) model across its EV portfolio, offering customers a flexible ownership option. With the introduction of the BaaS model, the TVS EV scooter range now starts at ₹49,999 (ex-showroom Delhi, inclusive of PM e-Drive). Customers opting to purchase the TVS Orbiter V1 without the BaaS plan can buy the scooter at ₹84,500 (ex-showroom Delhi, inclusive of PM e-Drive). The BaaS model separates the vehicle price from the battery cost, reducing the upfront purchase price while offering long-term battery assurance and flexible payment plans starting from ₹862 per month.

Designed for practical urban commuting, the TVS Orbiter V1 delivers a certified IDC range of 86 km and supports 0–80% charging in around 2 hours and 20 minutes. The scooter features a connected mobile app, LED headlamp with visor, coloured LCD cluster with incoming call display, and smart connectivity functions such as geo-fencing, anti-theft alerts, navigation assistance, and over-the-air updates. The model also offers dual ride modes—Eco and Power—along with regenerative braking, cruise control, hill hold assist, and parking assist.

The design focuses on everyday practicality, featuring an 845 mm flat-form seat for rider and pillion comfort, a 290 mm footboard for added legroom, upright handlebars for ergonomic riding posture, and a 34-litre under-seat storage capacity large enough to hold two helmets. The TVS Orbiter range now includes two variants — V1 with a 1.8 kWh battery and V2 with a 3.1 kWh battery. Gaurav Gupta, President – India 2W Business at TVS Motor Company, said the launch strengthens the company’s EV portfolio by making electric mobility more accessible. “The launch of TVS Orbiter V1 introduces the most accessible entry point into our electric scooter range. With BaaS, we are enabling greater flexibility while helping customers better understand the overall cost of EV ownership,” he said.

Aniruddha Haldar, Senior Vice President and Head – Commuter & EV Business and Head Corporate Brand & Media, TVS Motor Company, said the company aims to accelerate EV adoption as electric mobility gains momentum in India. “The TVS Orbiter V2 launched last year received strong customer response, and feedback highlighted the need for a more accessible option. The Orbiter V1 addresses this gap while flexible ownership models like BaaS will help expand EV adoption,” he said.

The launch could find traction in Siliguri, where demand for affordable electric two-wheelers has been steadily rising due to increasing fuel prices and growing awareness about sustainable mobility. Dealers in the region note that entry-level EVs with flexible ownership models such as battery subscription are attracting young commuters, delivery riders, and urban office-goers. The relatively lower upfront cost offered by the BaaS model could further encourage adoption in Siliguri and nearby North Bengal towns, where price sensitivity remains a key factor in vehicle purchases.
