Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has opened its first Company Owned Toyota Used Car Outlet (TUCO) in Northeast India, marking a milestone in the pre-owned car market. Located in Guwahati, this is TKM’s third TUCO facility in the country, following outlets in Bengaluru and Delhi. The Guwahati outlet spans 4,000 square feet and features over 15 certified Toyota vehicles, offering customers convenience, transparency, and assurance in buying and selling used cars.
Every vehicle at TUCO undergoes a rigorous 203-point inspection by Toyota-trained technicians and is refurbished with genuine parts. Toyota’s proprietary ‘MARU MARU’ cleaning process and transparent digital platforms, including an online car valuation tool, enhance the customer experience. Certified vehicles come with up to two years or 30,000 kilometers of warranty and three complimentary services redeemable at any Toyota center nationwide.
Addressing the growing demand for high-quality pre-owned cars in the Northeast, Mr. Takashi Takamiya, Vice President of TKM, highlighted the strategic importance of Guwahati as a gateway to the region. The launch is expected to influence regional markets like Siliguri, a hub for vehicle resale and cross-border trade. Siliguri’s customers are likely to benefit from Toyota’s reliable refurbished cars, addressing rising aspirations for quality vehicles in smaller cities. Toyota’s move aligns with its commitment to expanding mobility solutions in the Northeast, tapping into India’s growing organized used car market projected to grow at an 8% CAGR.
