Tinder’s Year in Swipe™ 2025: Young singles hit reset on modern romance

Tinder’s Year in Swipe™ 2025 reveals that young singles across India, including Kolkata, are stepping into 2026 with a renewed focus on clarity, emotional honesty and confident communication. The findings show a strong shift away from confusion-filled dating patterns toward clear intentions and meaningful conversations.

According to Tinder, emerging trends like Clear-Coding  where singles state exactly what they want  and Hot-Take Dating, where values and opinions shape attraction, are reshaping how young people connect. In 2025, 64% of users said emotional honesty is what dating needs most, while 60% felt clearer communication is essential. Kolkata, one of Tinder’s top metros for digital dating, mirrors these shifts as more users prioritise authenticity over ambiguity.

The report also highlights the rise of Friendfluence, with 42% of young singles admitting their friends influence their dating choices, and group or double dates gaining popularity. Emotional Vibe Coding is also driving matches, with singles preferring low-pressure, honest interactions. For Kolkata’s digitally active youth, Tinder’s 2025 insights reflect a cultural mood that favours openness, personal growth and emotionally mature connections.
