Siliguri, Jan 01: A shocking incident of theft has been reported from the Regulated Market area of Siliguri on the first day of the new year.
According to reports, a thief disguised as a devotee entered the Hanuman temple after the priest completed the morning rituals. After the temple opened for devotees, the thief took the opportunity and stole the silver crown from the idol and fled from the spot.
The incident has raised serious concerns about security in the area. Local traders rushed to the spot on hearing the news of the theft and expressed dissatisfaction over the lack of police action. They claimed that such thefts happen frequently in the area. Despite complaining to the police and local authorities several times, no action has been taken to resolve the issue.
Responding to the incident, the police reached the temple soon after the theft and started investigating the matter.
