The violence in Manipur is slowly simmer down but the situation in the state still remains tense. Today i.e. on Saturday after the violence, long queues were seen outside the petrol pump in Imphal.
The ongoing violence in Manipur is slowly settling down, but the situation remains tense. DGP P Dongel said that due to security forces, the situation has improved and strict orders have been issued to punish those who contributed to the violence.
Urge to impose President’s rule
MP Manoj Kumar Jha Rashtriya Janata Dal’s Rajya Sabha member wrote a letter to President Draupadi Murmu on 5 May expressing deep concern about the recent violence in Manipur. Home Minister Amit Shah canceled five meetings and roadshows scheduled for the last phase of the Karnataka assembly elections. Shah is in constant touch with top officials and is regularly taking information from security and intelligence agencies.

he Center has deployed forces including CRPF and BSF in the wake of violence between tribals and the Meitei community. 20 new companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) have been sent. Trains to Manipur have been canceled due to the law and order situation. Northeast Frontier Railway said two trains pass through Manipur and their operations have been canceled for two days from May 5.
Exodus of people from the state
Many people have fled Manipur and taken shelter in the Cachar district of Assam. The district administration has provided food and drink, and local people are also helping them. Assam CM HimantaBiswa Sarma has directed the district administration to take care of the refugees, and 30 people arrived in Mizoram from Manipur on Friday. Most of them are women.

The Manipur government had requested the Army and the Assam Rifles soon after inter-community clashes broke out in some districts of Manipur on 3 and 4 May. KPI, Moreh, Churachandpur and Kaking now totally under control and no major violence has been reported since last night.
