The Indian era of the G20 Presidency kicked off on Sunday at Udaipur with the 1st Sherpa Meeting of G20 led by India’s G20 Sherpa

The Indian era of the G20 Presidency kicked off on Sunday at Udaipur with the 1st Sherpa Meeting of G20 led by India’s G20 Sherpa, Mr. Amitabh Kant. Udaipur, the city of lakes, hosted the first high-level Sherpa Meeting, which fell under the Sherpa track of G20, from 4th to 7th December and is set to showcase India’s rich culture and the tradition of Atithi Devo Bhava to the G20 family.

Day 1 of the 4 day schedule started with a panel discussion on the theme ‘Transforming Lives: Accelerating Implementation of SDGs’ followed by a networking reception of the delegates. On Day 2, the 5th of December, Mr. Amitabh Kant, will present an Overview of India’s G20 Presidency to all the delegates, followed by an Overview of the Finance Track by Mr. Ajay Seth, Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance.

Later, the Sherpa Meeting will be holding its first out of the five sessions on Technological Transformation under the working groups of Digital Economy, Health, and Education. In the second session, the topic of Green Development and Lifestyle for the Environment (LiFE) will be discussed through the working groups on Development, Energy, Climate, and DRR. The topics of the other sessions include Accelerated, Inclusive, and Resilient Growth, Multilateralism and 3F’s (Food, Fuel, Fertilizers), Women-led Development, Tourism and Culture, and the Conclusion and Way Forward by G20 India Sherpa Mr. Kant.
