In an effort to enhance parliamentary discipline, the Assam Legislative Assembly will establish a detention room for suspended MLAs who disrupt sessions, as confirmed by Speaker Biswajit Daimary. This decision follows ongoing disturbances from suspended MLA Akhil Gogoi during recent proceedings. Minister Bimal Borah supports the creation of this space to mitigate disruptions. The Assembly Secretariat will draft operational rules for the detention facility, which aims to maintain order within the Assembly amidst heightened political tensions and criticisms from Gogoi against the government.
