A protest staged by the temporary employees of North Bengal Medical College & Hospital at the hospital premises, regarding their salaries being deprived for the past three months came to notice.
Group D workers of NBMCH are temporarily recruited through tenders. Around 150 workers are working in this process. The workers complained that they have not been paid for the last three months. No necessary actions were taken by the Hospital Authorities, regardless of their daily complains. Hence, they protested in front of the hospital’s ticket counter and outpatient department on Thursday morning.
Patient services were discontinued by the meantime of the protest. Later, the situation came under control when the Medical Outpost Police reached the spot.
On the other side, Superintendent Sanjay Mallick said, “These employees are paid by the company through which they have been recruited. As a result, we have nothing to do in this matter.”
