Nagapattinam Shipping Harbour Department said that the passenger ferry service from Nagapattinam in Tamil Nadu to Sri Lanka has resumed after a gap of 40 years. The service will start from October 14(Saturday), 2023.
The trial run for the passenger ferry service was done on October 8 in the presence of officials who examined and ensured the comfort and safety of the passengers travelling by sea.
The resumption of the ferry services which will cover the 111km distance in 3 hours would strengthen the regional trade and tourism and will also improve people to people ties.
The fare for accessing the passenger ferry service per person is fixed at ₹7670 ( ₹6500 18% GST). On the October 14, 2023 the passengers will get an inaugural offer, the customers will receive 75% off on the current price that is ₹2800 ( ₹2375 18% tax).
